Praise

Over on his blog, Brad Ricca gave a shout-out to the preview of his book, “Super Boys: The Amazing Adventures of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster — The Creators of Superman,” posted here last week.

It might be considered a bit self-important to link to a link back to one’s own blog, but I’m honored (and humbled) that the work I’m putting in here, meager as it might be, is getting noticed.

On a related note, Ricca also linked to an early review by Cliff Biggers, a longtime comic book writer and journalist (and founder of Comic Shop News, a publication which was one of my most-regular sources of comic book news in the pre-Internet days), who gave the book a glowing review.

Here’s a snippet:

But the most memorable aspect of Super Boys is not the discoveries, but the way Ricca brings these two men to life. We share in their exuberance as Superman is accepted, we witness their frustration and anger as the character slips away from them; we understand the acceptance and satisfaction that they found in their final years, as well as the creative sparks that never burned out.

Sounds fantastic. Hurry up, June.

Spread the love
