Billy Hogan once again turns his attention to Jerry Siegel-written comics with episode 284 of the Superman Fan Podcast!
First up is SUPERMAN #155, where the Siegel-written “The Downfall of Superman!” earned the cover feature and a special guest appearance by a real-life celebrity. Years before he met Muhammad Ali in the boxing ring, Superman squared off against Antonino Rocca in the squared circle. Can Superman take the legendary wrestler down for the count? And what happens when a group of thugs plot to pin Rocca for good?!
Next is ACTION COMICS #291, where Supergirl stars in “The Bride of Mr. Mxyzptlk.” The 12-page story is Siegel’s final installment in his Supergirl run in ACTION COMICS. Siegel wrote one more Supergirl story after this, but not until 1965.
