  1. Great job on part 2, guys. So glad you pointed out how Curt Swan drew different faces for different characters. This is something he taught to later artists he influenced, like George Perez. I always loved that close-up panel of half of the Joker’s face, but was also weirded out by his clown costume. Reminds me of his Palliachi costume from his debut episode of the 66 TV series.

Man, that month WAS huge for DC comics. Besides B&B #54, considered by DC to be the TT’s first appearance, you get the first two New Look Batman appearances as well in Batman #164 and Tec #327. Batman debuted his oval logo in this issue of WF as well. Took them a bit to update his vehicles and Robin’s hair in WF, though.

The bit with Bob at the end of the credits sounded very familiar. My mom read comics to me before I could read, but by the time I got to first grade I was reading rings around the other kids…thanks to comics!!!

Again, great show guys, and I hope Bob stops by again.

  2. Another great episode. I must point out that I share Bob’s passion about the genuine friendship between Superman and Batman. Maybe that’s because he and I are close in age, so the Silver Age stories were what we grew up with. When you were discussing the “Joker in a clown costume” question, I thought that this gave the reader the idea that there were adventures we, as readers, didn’t know about, which gave Batman and Superman more “depth”, as characters. Maybe that wasn’t the intent of the writers and artists, but it was an effect.
I also agree that it was a missed opportunity in not bringing back the Composite Superman as a recurring villain. He would have been a good one, and he certainly posed a threat and a challenge to the Worlds Finest Team.
While my Mom didn’t read comics to me, she certainly bought them for me and encouraged me to read them, with the help of my older brothers when I was very young. To this day, I still tell people that Superman taught me to read.
Keep up the good work, and I’ll agree with Earth 2 Chris in hoping Bob Fisher makes a return appearance.
