The Thrilling Adventures of SupermanWelcome to episode 85 of The Thrilling Adventures of Superman. The show’s mission is to explore the history and development of the Superman in his formative years by chronicling the Man of Steel’s Golden Age adventures in comics, radio and film.

There’s a special treat this episode as we examine Superman’s growing popularity when co-creator Jerry Siegel pays a visit to “The Fred Allen Show” to discuss his most-famous creation. Then, Superman himself ventures into the real world and takes “The Boss” Harry Donenfeld for a flight!

QUOTABLE:
“Can he open a Pullman window?”

I enjoy all of your Superman podcasts but especially loved this episode. As a fan of old time radio, I may be biased, but it was wonderful to hear this Fred Allen clip with a young Jerry Siegel. It’s unfortunate that Joe wasn’t part of this as well. It’s little treats like this that make your podcast so wonderful and unique. In addition to recapping Superman’s stories, you also provide a glimpse into the era in which these stories were first heard and read.
