Welcome to episode 60 of The Thrilling Adventures of Superman. The show’s mission is to explore the history and development of the Superman in his formative years by chronicling the Man of Steel’s Golden Age adventures in comics, radio and film.

Professor Clarence Cobalt cooks up copious chicanery at his crooked clinic of quackery as Michael looks at the Superman story from ACTION COMICS #26. Superman makes a two-fold return to his social justice roots to deal with a pair of phony doctor — and prevent his victims from enacting their own brand of justice in this classic Golden Age tale.

The Man of Tomorrow returns to the once-called “World of Tomorrow” as Michael looks at the Superman story from the 1940 issue of NEW YORK WORLD’S FAIR COMICS. It’s a quintessential story of the Golden Age Superman, with jewel thieves, Lois in trouble and Superman flying — yes, flying — in for the save. Also, Michael looks at other events from the World’s Fair Superman, including Superman Day and the first public appearance of Superman himself in the flesh! Plus, a special cameo by the Golden Age Michael Bailey!

The Thrilling Adventures of Superman

Michael is joined by J. David Weter for a look at four thrilling Superman tales from SUPERMAN #5. Follow along as Superman smashes and trashes a variety threats from slot machine rackets, crooked newspapermen, life-giving drugs and an incense menace, courtesy of the nefarious Luthor! Plus, more of Superman’s powers bubble to the surface and the guys uncover helpful hints on how to take over the world! (Hint: It involves not making statues of yourself to be use in your schemes.)

The Thrilling Adventures of Superman
